#ShopMyCloset Part 1: The ABCs

Glasses, Cover Girl

Glasses, Cover Girl

Hey Divas! So, I’ve been keeping my pledge to #shopmycloset and not buy anything new for three months, BUT I do get bored easily with my style. How to change it up? By using the ABCs – Accessories, Bold Color, and Cosmetics!

A is for Accessories

A couple of years ago, I finally accepted that I needed reading glasses.  Not wanting to settle for anything dowdy, I chose this foxy pair from Cover Girl. Now, I like to put these on for a “nice but naughty” look for date night!

Who can forget the power of a hot pair of heels? Since I was rocking all black for my outfit, I had to go all out with these gold metallic from Charlotte Russe.

B: Bold Color

The easiest way to change up your look without a commitment is using temporary color in the hair. When I was in between hair appointments and the white hairs were popping out, I grabbed some lip stain and streaked it in. I loved the effect so much, I ended up getting red highlights at my appointment!

This was just some lip stain! Washed out easily!

C: Cosmetics

Of course, makeup can change the whole feel and mood of your look. I’ve been experimenting with glam and natural, and I’ve really come to embrace the minimal as well as the glamorous.

Pared back and pretty.

You Say It’s My Blogaversary: The Divine Mz M is 1 Year Old!

How time flies…!

One year ago, I was dealing with some severe back pain issues which limited the amount of activity I was comfortable doing.  Creating The Divine Mz M (formerly Curves Rule!) became a way for me to feel like I was still contributing something worthy. I had never blogged before, and I was worried that no one would bother reading anything I had to share.

Flash forward one year, I got my back surgery, the pain is greatly reduced, and The Divine Mz M has over 1,000 followers!

I have followers from all walks of life!

Shopping for the Cure by Forever 21

October is a special month for many reasons; there’s beautiful colors on the leaves, a briskness in the air, the excitement of Halloween, and also many events focusing on breast cancer awareness.

One of my favorite retailers, Forever 21, put out sweatshirts, tees, and jewelry to promote breast cancer awareness. With every purchase of a special item, Forever 21 donated a portion of the sale to The Keep a Breast Foundation!

I bought this cute black tee and the ribbon earring set. Stylish and makes a statement!

I Have a Leopard Problem!

Ahhh leopard print! For the past couple of seasons, it’s been hot for purses, shoes, dresses, pants…well, EVERYTHING.

This is awesome and bad for me at the same time.

Let me explain. I have a leopard print throw blanket, pillows, and sheets.

Three leopard print purses.

Four pairs of leopard print shoes.

And, several shades and colors of leopard print shirts and dresses!

My current favorite piece? This Michael Michael Kors print dress! I got to rock this while shopping in Milan.

Be Italian: The Vatican

Bonjourno! The Hubby and I are home now in Germany, safe and sound, with a TON of pictures! I’m going to spread out my tales of Italy over several posts with fashion musings mixed in, so I hope you will enjoy!

In St. Peter's Square.

In St. Peter’s Square.

We arrived in Rome around 10 p.m., and the first impression was not great. The area where our train stopped looked sketchy;  a LOT of graffiti on buildings, dark streets, and the rain didn’t help matters, either! I would learn later that unfortunately, Rome has a lot of graffiti. However, Italians are very friendly people and many of them speak good English. Thanks to a helpful waiter in a café we stumbled into, we were pointed in the right direction and found our B & B.

A tour of the Vatican and St. Peter’s Square began our first full day. I cannot say this enough; GO TO THE VATICAN IF YOU EVER GET THE OPPORTUNITY. For one thing, you are visiting a separate state within the city of Rome ( you can buy post cards and send them from the Vatican’s post office!), and the artwork is absolutely STUNNING.  If you do visit Italy, book tours with Dark Rome. You’ll get an excellent guide, and a lot of bang for your buck.

Just one of the hundreds of frescos!

Just one of the hundreds of frescos!

My neck became sore by constantly looking up to see the genius works by Michaelangelo and Raphael.

IMG_20140617_104054

I cannot really fully describe what it was like to see the Sistine Chapel. Absolutely no photos were allowed, and what I’ll call “professional shush-ers” stood on the edges of the area to keep people quiet (it is considered a church, after all). But looking up and ACTUALLY SEEING “The Creation of Adam” got me emotional. Just unbelievably beautiful!

Since we had a full day of seeing sights, I kept my look comfy and light. My new tunic from American Rag (available through Macy’s), leggings from Forever 21 Plus, and comfy sneaks did the trick. I wore my new rings from A Wild Violet, an Etsy store that does custom work. Check out the Michigan midi ring!

I got the Michigan and crown ring BOTH for just $23.00! The owners often offer discount codes, so be sure to check them out!

Gotta keep it simple for all the walking! My JustFab bag held EVERYTHING I needed for the day!

Many more adventures to come, so stay tuned!

Milan: A Fashion Addict’s Paradise!

As I write this post on my Android, we’re waiting to board a plane home. So many adventures and sights from our Italy tour to reflect upon! In the coming days, I’ll write tales of this amazing experience (since I’ll have my laptop!).

In the meantime, I’ll show you the drool worthy sights and shoes I found in Milan! I spared the Hubby from financial ruin by only purchasing this adorable top by Zara, maxi skirt (with pockets!) and silver metal necklace from H&M.
