Milan: A Fashion Addict’s Paradise!

As I write this post on my Android, we’re waiting to board a plane home. So many adventures and sights from our Italy tour to reflect upon! In the coming days, I’ll write tales of this amazing experience (since I’ll have my laptop!).

In the meantime, I’ll show you the drool worthy sights and shoes I found in Milan! I spared the Hubby from financial ruin by only purchasing this adorable top by Zara, maxi skirt (with pockets!) and silver metal necklace from H&M.

Tuesday Shoe Day SOS!

One of my favorites! Heels, JustFab.

One of my favorites!
Heels, JustFab.

Anyone who knows me is aware that I LOVE shoes. I think it’s safe to say I’m addicted. I’ve been known to be stopped cold in my tracks by a gorgeous pair while strolling downtown! Let’s just say if I had the means, I’d definitely give Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money!

Carrie Hello Lover

But here’s a hard slap of reality I’m facing today. I have an old injury to my left knee that’s flaring up, and wearing heels makes it hurt worse. Yesterday, I was feeling all sassy in a newer pair of watercolor print Just Fab heels (so adorable!), and just walking down our stairs made me wince. I actually said to the Hubby, “could you grab my leopard sneaks?”

Now defeated, I am going to have to retire the higher heels for awhile while my knee recuperates.

What are some stylish, comfortable low heel/flat shoes I can wear with dresses? I have new skirts and body con dresses that need something sharp!

PLEASE leave brand names, links, etc. I don’t have a ton of time to browse and don’t know what’s good. THANK YOU in advance, I really appreciate it!

Until then, I will put my 4 and 5 inchers in shoe bags, hoping to see them soon. Sigh.

Love, laughter, and shoes…

xx Melanie.

I’m a Liebster Award Nominee!

How cool! The sweet Alley Tiffy of Classygirlschic nominated me for the Liebster Award, which is recognition from members from the blogging community! I’m on a mission to grow my audience, and I want to help other bloggers grow as well.

Liebster Award

Here are the rules:

You must link back to the person who nominated you.
You must answer the questions given to you.
You must pick 11 nominees to answer 11 questions you choose for them.
You cannot nominate the person who nominated you.
You must tell the nominees that they have been nominated by you.
So, here are the answers to what Ms. Tiffy asked me:)

1)What is your favorite makeup brand?

I think it’s safe to say I’m a big fan of Clinique. Their products work great on my sensitive skin.

2) Where do you like to shop the most often?
I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping since moving to Germany (mostly because the dollar is cheaper than euro), and I am very happy with everything I’ve bought from Forever21. Their Plus line is stylish, well made, and very affordable.
3) If you were to splurge on an item, what would you buy?
I’d die to buy some Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutin shoes!
4) Where do you want to travel to? We NEED to see London before our time is done in Europe!
5)What is your style? I’d say at the moment it is “Comfy Chic with Diva Flair.”
6)Do you spend more time on your hair, deciding what you are going to wear or makeup?
Definitely the outfit. My hair is super easy to do, and I’ve got my makeup routine down to a science. But dressing is still tough for me to do in a hurry!
7) What is your favorite trend at the moment? The awesome fringed bags that are popping up everywhere on the spring runways!

8)What is your favorite animal? Cat:) We have two.

9)Do you play any sports? If so, what are they? I’m not able to do anything at the moment because of back surgery, but I enjoy volleyball the most.
10) What are your hobbies? BLOGGING, ha! Otherwise, dancing and karaoke.
11) What are your favorite songs? That’s hard for me. I love so many, but my current favorite is “Let it Go” from FROZEN.
Now it’s my turn to nominate!
OK lovelies – congrats! Here are your questions!
1. What beauty product can you NOT live without?
2. Who is your “style icon”?
3. Which beauty product is worth paying extra for?
4. Which fashion trend are you a fan of?
5. Is there a current fashion trend you’re NOT a fan of?
6. If you could be dressed by any designer, who would it be?
7. Which fashion publication do you look forward to reading?
8. Is there a TV show you are totally obsessed with? Which one?
9. Which celebrity has the best red carpet style?
10. What is your favorite place to visit?
11. How would you describe your fashion style?
There you go! Don’t forget to link me back with your answers!

Designers, Mountains, and Beer…Oh My!

The hubby and I are on vacation in the gorgeous area of Bavaria during Thanksgiving week! One of the best things about living in Germany is the close proximity to so many beautiful areas to visit. Since the hubby is on “R & R,” we qualified for a very nice discount at Edelweiss Lodge and Resort! If anyone is military living in Europe, they NEED to stay here. It is impossible to be bored! Depending on the mood, you can ski, sled, shop, relax in a hot tub (with bartender service!), visit nearby Munich or Innsbruck, tour a brewery, get a massage…so many choices! So far, Hubby and I visited Munich, where I was blown away by the amount of designer shops along the streets! How exciting to see one of my all time favorites, Jimmy Choo! One day, I will have a pair of those shoes!

Jimmy Choo! Oh, if only...

Jimmy Choo! Oh, if only…

No kidding, designers such as Prada, Giorgio Armani, Etro, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana lined the streets of Munich. I drooled over a couple of my favorites, Versace and Dior!

"Christian Dior me!"

I could just grab one of those bags...!

Versace  did a line for H&M a couple of seasons back, and some plus size pieces were included. I’m hoping that Donatella will expand plus size into her runway line, so we’ll see!

Besides the fashion, Munich has a charming Christmas market with one of the best things about the season, Gluhwein! The day we visited was VERY chilly, so enjoying a cup of the hot and fruity wine was just the thing to warm up!

I am not a fan of heights. I get dizzy, feel nauseated, and faint like when I’m up way high. However, Hubby has been wanting to go up in a gondola to the Zugspitze for quite awhile, and as a gesture of love, I swallowed my fear and went up 10,000 feet! I could NOT look behind us as we climbed, climbed, and climbed. A couple of times I felt dizzy, but I breathed deeply and trusted that the cable would not snap and send us to our demise! Once we were finally up there (and my legs stopped shaking!) we took in this amazing view!

Talk about a winter wonderland! The Zugspite has excellent areas for skiing, sledding, and snowboarding. One of my goals after my surgery is to be able to go sledding next year!

One of the things Germany is best known for is BEER, of course! Although we are not big beer drinkers, we thought taking a tour of one of the local breweries might help us to find something we liked. At the Griesbrau Brewery, the guide and Brewmaster Wolfgang showed and explained how his beer is made, plus we “sampled” four different types of beer AND beer liquor! Let’s just say that a “sample” means a FULL glass! One of my favorites was the “Christmas Liquor,” a beer liquor that is served warm and made with spices. It tastes kind of like rum!

Christmas beer liquor is best served with whipped cream!

Thanksgiving is upon us, and I have so much to be thankful for. Being able to have these adventures and enjoying time with my husband is amazing. Though I am dealing with a cranky back, life is good! Tomorrow, we go to Innsbruck, Austria!
